Hi Guys! Come on in and see what I’m doing today! I am making a Rainbow Trout Birthday Card for my husband.

I went on Pinterest and used the above card as my inspiration. I liked the woodgrain layer topped with a torn piece of cardstock, the trout jumping out of the water, and the sequin embellishments.
Here are the pieces for the card. I used Close To My Heart cardstock in Colonial White and Chocolate.

The card base and envelope are Colonial White and came in a set available from CTMH – card making at its simplest, lol. The rest of the pieces were sized to fit on the base.
I ran the Chocolate piece through my eBosser using the CTMH Woodgrain embossing folder and then sanded it with a Stampin’ Up sander. Doesn’t it look awesome? Too bad most of it gets covered up . . .
Stamp set CTMH B1535 “Hooked on You” was used to stamp the trout and Happy Birthday sentiment on to a piece of CTMH Colonial White cardstock using CTMH Black ink.
I inked the edges of the cardstock and attached them to CTMH Chocolate background cardstock. Then I used my Spectrum Noir colored pencils to color the trout and the splashing water.

I won’t lie, I’m NOT an artist – I went to google images and found a picture of a rainbow trout to see how to color it . . . it came out pretty good, if I say so myself . . .
I added some of the CTMH Sparkles Assortment in various sizes to embellish the card, rather than sequins.
Here is the finished card. I left the inside blank and added my own personal sentiment.

It was a really simple card, but came out soooo good!!!
