Marquee letters for decor are really popular right now. I saw a demo for this heidi swap Marquee love letter kit, and thought it would look really nice on my picture gallery wall. AND it lights up – yes, it has lights . . . pretty cool!
It come with the shape, a template that you can trace onto cardstock, lights, light covers, and instructions. I also bought heidi swapp glitter tape and turquoise light covers.
I used a piece of light blue glitter DCWV Linen Closet cardstock.
I traced the letter onto the back of the cardstock and cut it out.
Then I put the heidi swapp glitter tape around the outside and inside edges. It was realllllly messy. The glitter came off the tape and it was EVERYWHERE!!! Ugh – I love glitter, but I want it on my project, not on me, my desk, or the floor. There were some wrinkles and when I tried to smooth them out, the glitter just came off!!! Ugh!!!
Then, following the instructions, I inserted the lights through the back and popped the turquoise bulbs onto the front.
Here it is unlighted . . .
And here it is with the lights turned on.
So . . . here’s my review: I was disappointed that it was made out of paper – not sure how I missed that pretty important fact (thought it was made out of metal when I bought it) – and I think it came out cheap-looking. Yeah, it got bent out of shape when I was putting the glitter tape around the edges . . . Hmm, pretty sure I won’t be hanging it up. Right now it’s sitting on my fireplace mantel – I just hate not using things I make. Oh well, live and learn, lol.
