Hi Guys! Come on in and see what I’m doing today! I’m making a First Communion Card for my nephew’s daughter.
Above is a screenshot of the design in Cricut Design Space. This card is for a girl and can be pink, frilly, and pretty. It’s one of those cards that comes out better than I expected.
Here is the inspiration for the card – I went on Pinterest and searched “1st Communion Cards.” My card is for a girl, so I’ll add pink and I love sheer ribbon, so I’ll replace the satin ribbon. Otherwise, the front will look very similar.
Here are the cutout pieces. I used some shimmery pink cardstock from my stash and Close To My Heart White Daisy. I used a fine tip black pen for the text.
The first frame I made had an intricate design that I tore (twice!!), so I changed to a ring of flowers – they came out perfect. When I cut the cross, I cut it twice on the regular cardstock setting – because it was also tearing – however, this time it worked!!
I ran the top through my eBosser with the Dotted Swiss embossing folder, then wrapped sheer ribbon between the embossing and the flat areas, and tied a piece in a knot off to the left.
I love, love, love these thin 3D foam squares – they raise the layer just enough to add a little dimension.
Here is where I added the ring of flowers, embellishing the centers with small pearl bubbles, and popping it up with foam dots.
This pic shows the cross in the center of the ring of flowers.
Yeah . . . I am really loving this card!!!
I’ve been using the We R Memory Keepers Envelope Generator app on my phone to calculate the dimensions for my card envelopes. It’s free (woohoo), and it’s harder to read the numbers wrong (this may have happened to me – maybe more than once, lol).
Here’s the finished card. Isn’t it beautiful???? I love it when cards come out even better than I expect!!!!
