2016-04-30 15.17.28Hi Guys! Come on in and see what I’m doing today!

May is National Scrapbook Month and Close To My Heart has a special going on where you can get a free Happy Times paper pack for every $60 you spend. Well, I’m not a scrapbooker, but I do like to make cards.

So, today, I am showcasing the first six cards in the CTMH Happy Times Card Workshop by Michelle Snyder, a set of instructions for 12 different cards.

Above are the supplies I used – Happy Times paper pack, Happy Times stamp set, ink in Pomegranate, Smoothie, Canary and Fern, Pink Enamel Gems, gold sequins, and white & gold ribbon. The instructions include the dimensions of each paper piece – I cut all the pieces at the same time, labeled and sorted them.
2016-05-02 22.45.31Card 1: Above left are the paper pieces, above right is the first layer, bottom left are the layered squares, and the bottom right has the flower added. I stamped the flower layers and the leaf on White Daisy cardstock, cut them out, layered them on top of each other and added a pink enamel gem.

Card 2: Above left are the pieces, above right is the first layer. I added a double gold squiggly line around the outside edge of the pieces.

Here is Card 2 completed. I stamped Best Wishes and a flower on the white square, attached it to the front of the card and added gold sequins to either side.
2016-05-02 22.48.55Card 3: Left are the pieces – I stamped flowers and leaves on the White Daisy cardstock, center is the first layer assembled, on the right you see the flower popped up and a ribbon bow adhered to the corner.

Ugh! I stamped those yellow flowers four times before they looked like I wanted . . . and then I covered them up with a flower, sheesh.

Here is Card 3 completed. I followed the instructions, but the perfectionist in me DOES NOT LIKE THE GOLD LINE!! I would rather add another layer or use washi around the outside edge . . .  just sayin’ . . .

Card 4: Above left are the pieces, and above right is the completed card. For the ribbon, I put tape on the backside, stuck the ribbon on the back, and tied a shorter piece to the front and angle-cut the ends. Impressive, huh?
2016-05-02 22.53.37Card 5: Above left are the pieces, and above right is the completed card. The instructions said to scallop the edges of the green piece, but I don’t have an edger – I like the way it looks, though.
2016-05-02 22.54.20Card 6: Above left are the pieces, and above right is the completed card. Every Close To My Heart stamp set comes with a sheet of foam to put under your cardstock when stamping – stamps really do come out better when you use it.

Here are the first six finished cards. It took me about an hour to cut out all the pieces, and about 15 minutes for each card. These are super quick and easy cards, they are blank on the inside so you can stamp or write whatever you want.

Don’t you just love the paper? The colors are bright and happy – perfect for spring or summer cards.

Stay tuned for the other six cards – Monday’s topic.
