Hi Guys! Come on in and see what I’m doing today!
A friend at work is having a Mickey Mouse party for her little guy’s 1st birthday and she asked me to make decorations for the party! I’ve made decorations for my grandchildren, but not for someone else – I won’t lie, I was more than a little nervous.
I opened Cricut Design Space and we went through the Disney designs I had – she chose several – decided on sizes, wording and colors . . . I used Close To My Heart cardstock for all the decorations.
The sign above is Oh Boy! Ears from the Disney-Mickey Font cartridge and is cut out of CTMH Poppy cardstock – this color is a really close match to Disney red.
The hands are Mickey Hand Border from the Disney-Mickey and Friends cartridge and are cut out of CTMH White Daisy and Black cardstock.
The other border is the Mickey Head Border also from the Disney-Mickey and Friends cartridge and are cut out of CTMH Poppy and Black cardstock.
This is a banner that says “Aiden’s 1st Birthday.” I cut scalloped circles out of CTMH Poppy cardstock, and circles out of CTMH White Daisy cardstock. The letters are the Waltograph font that I got from dafont.com – they have hundreds of fonts you can get – they are free for personal use – some of them ask for a donation to the author. I am NOT charging my friend for these decorations!!!
The Mickey ears is the Mickey Mouse Symbol from the Disney-Mickey Font cartridge and are cut from CTMH Black and Poppy cardstock. I added the white circles and they are cut from CTMH White Daisy cardstock. These are spacers between the words in the banner.
These are all the pieces that I cut out and are ready for assembly. This was one of the most fun projects I’ve ever done! They came out awesome! Just awesome!!
Pluto and Mickey came out soooooo good! Aaaaaaagggggghhhhhh!
I cut them from CTMH Black, Poppy, and White Daisy. I used some of my stash for Mickey’s face, Pluto’s fur and collar, and their tongues. These just came out perfectly – everything fit where it was supposed to and . . . They. Look. Great.
I made three of each of these – again, they fit together perfectly and look really nice finished. One of the problems I’ve had with Disney designs in the past are the itty bitty pieces – when you make them this big, that’s definitely not a problem!
She wanted to put these letters on the high chair for the party, but they looked too plain . . .
So, her suggestion was to put the scalloped circles behind the letters, like the banner – it made all the difference! She’s a genius, lol!!!!!
She also wanted t-shirts – she already bought one for the birthday boy and wanted some for mommy and daddy – so she bought the plain white t-shirts (Plain White T’s – I LOVE them!!). And I used my AWESOME shirt press to adhere the designs on. The black Mickey is the the base from the Mickey Symbol and is from the Disney-Mickey Font cartridge without the red overlay. The bow is called Minnie’s Bow and is from the Disney-Mickey and Friends cartridge.
I really need to practice with the shirt press – things come out really good, the only thing I’ve found I don’t like though is when I layer colors, you can see where the liner overlaps the previous color??? Not sure if you know what I mean, but you can see an outline where the liner extends beyond what you’re pressing onto what you’ve already pressed. . . This also happened when I made drink Koozies – which are made out of neoprene, so I thought it was the material I was using – apparently not . . .
Here’s the daddy one – so cute!!! I added the bow tie, which came from the Cricut Close To My Heart Artistry cartridge, and is called Bow Tie.
As I said, this was the most fun project I’ve ever worked on – and everything came out so good!!!
