Deer vs Pickup Truck Birthday Card

Screen Shot 2016-01-24 at 5.47.41 PM copy

Hi Guys! Come on in and see what I’m doing today!

I used my Awesome Cricut Explore to create a Deer vs Pickup Truck birthday card for my brother-in-law. He goes to work at 4:00 am and has hit a few deer on his way – which may or may not explain the pickup with the plow on the front of it, lol.

Above is a screenshot of Cricut Design Space showing how I laid out the design.

The grass is from Cricut’s Plantin Schoolbook cartridge. The pine trees and deer are from the Disney Classics cartridge. I got the pickup truck image from Google.

The deer and pickup truck are print and cut pieces, and the font is Cricut Alphabet in the writing style.

IMG_5723

Here are all the pieces ready for assembly . . .

IMG_5724

I used my Xyron Create a Sticker MAX to put adhesive on the back of the trees, the deer, and the pickup truck.

IMG_5725

These are the tools I used to complete this project: Scotch ATG 700, Xyron Create a Sticker MAX, heidi swapp’s Color Shine in Citron, and an eraser to remove the lingering adhesive from the Xyron.

IMG_5726

Here is the front of the card – there’s the deer camouflaged by the grass and the trees. Man, the lighting is horrible in this photo – the card base is a dark gray, layered on top with light gray and the trees are an olive green, hmmmmm . . .

I used Close To My Heart Cardstock in the following colors:
Sweet Leaf
Whisper
Pear
Fern
Slate
New England Ivy
Black
Topiary

IMG_5727

Here is the inside of the card. If you have ever pieced together Cricut images from cartridges, you will understand how tedious it can be. I LOVE PRINT AND CUT for this reason. The images aren’t so thick, they look professional and oh, so, nice!!!

It’s a silly card, but perfect for the person and the occasion, lol.

January Paper Panduh Plan With Me

IMG_5705

Hi Guys! Come on in and see what I’m doing today!

I have this awesome view when I am planning . . .

I mean . . . this view + a pot of tea + planner supplies = Heaven On Earth

IMG_5706

I use a Plum Paper Planner for my Blog planning. I took the pages off the spiral and used washi to cover the edges and repunched the holes. They live in my Lavender Kikki k.

Here is the January Paper Panduh kit on the month-on-two-pages.

I used some of the heidi swapp stickers to make tabs on the top – I like tabs so I can find each week quickly and not have to leaf through the pages.

There is a week and a half of open days at the end of February, so I used the washi tape, washi strips, and rose stickers to fill in and pretty it up. I LOVE how that looks.

IMG_5707

This is the first half of the first week. I used some raspberry washi to separate the sections and the planner stickers from the kit. Washi tape is like the BEST thing to happen to decorating – my daughter even used it to make airplanes on her son’s bedroom wall – pretty cool.

I’ve said this before, but I don’t really like roller stampers – I don’t like the way the stamps look – my OCD, I guess. But, I used it anyway this month.

I have a CherryOnTop marker that is a really lovely shade of pink that I’m going to use to fill in the dates.

This is my favorite color scheme/theme of any kit I’ve ever gotten – it’s pretty – it’s pink – it’s girly – I.Love.It.

January Paper Panduh Kit Unboxing

2016-01-19 11.38.40
Hi Guys! Come on in and see what I’m doing today!

I got my January Paper Panduh Kit and it is just lovely. Pinks, florals, pretty – makes me long for spring . . .

2016-01-19 11.38.18

This is the inside of the box – “The best time for new beginnings is now.”

The kit is wrapped in Kraft paper and floral tissue paper, a torn page from a book, twine, and a leaf with my name on it – mmmmmmhmmmmm . . .

I know I’ve said this before, but for me, presentation is everything. This is just plain lovely . . . I didn’t want to open it . . . I just sat and looked at it for a while.

2016-01-19 11.40.23

This is what I saw when I finally unwrapped the package. Lots of ice blue krinkled paper – so pretty.

2016-01-19 11.40.57

Inside the muslin bag were two rolls of washi tape – one is clear with gold foiled flowers – one is small pick flowers – so, so, so pretty!

2016-01-19 11.41.33

This is a pad of sticky notes tied with twine. Love the hearts!

2016-01-19 11.42.15

Here is an amy tangerine rotary stamp – I never remember to use these – I have a bunch of them – I’m going to use this one!!!

2016-01-19 11.42.53

This is a small journal from San Nicolas Book Art with a floral vellum cover – great for writing notes – and a pretty pink floral pen that says “Dear Lovely” in gold foil on it.

2016-01-19 11.43.36

There were three tabs inside this paper bag with “a fresh start” sticker enclosure.

2016-01-19 11.44.09

Finally, there are some planner stickers by Little Miss Paperie, (I think . . . it says lmp in the corner????) and some heidi swapp stickers – she uses a lot of pink, gold foil, and florals in her designs – they definitely coordinate with the kit.

This kit is so springy with its pinks and florals. It really will feel like a fresh, “new beginning” when I use them. I just love this kit, these are the colors and designs I would create. One of the problems I have with kits is that they don’t always have my style of products – this kit, however, is perfect!!

Chic Sparrow Midori

2016-01-19 10.54.49

Hi Guys! Come on in and see what I’m doing today!

I have been eyeing Midori’s for a while and I finally ordered one. I got it from ChicSparrow. It is a Dark Chocolate Narrow Creme Brûlée Deluxe.

What is a Midori? It’s a portable leather cover that has elastic straps inside it that will hold inserts. Inserts can have blank pages, lined pages, grid pages, or dotted pages.

The package was inside a Post Office mailer envelope and this is what it looked like when I took it out of its package. Aaaaaaagh! I love Kraft gift wrap and red and white baker’s twine – I wrap my Christmas gifts just like this. The stamped feather on the front is just plain awesome!

2016-01-19 10.55.16

These two inserts were included inside the package. The top one talks about the leather and how to take care of it – AWESOME! I have to oil it???? What kind of oil?????

The bottom one is a thank you for buying their product and has their social media information.

2016-01-19 10.57.06

For $4.99 I had them engrave “gagegirl” on the front in Goudy Cursive – O M G, I LOVE IT!!!!!!

2016-01-19 10.57.51

Here is the front – it’s actually more brown than this picture shows – it’s definitely chocolate brown in real life. Oooooh, it is just beautiful!!!! AND THE SOFTEST LEATHER EVER!!!!!

2016-01-19 10.58.50

Inside the front cover there are three pockets that can hold business card sized items.

Behind that is another pocket that is the full length of the Midori.

2016-01-19 10.59.35

Here is the February Cocoa Daisy Dori insert.

2016-01-19 11.00.12

This Midori easily holds four inserts – here is a side view.

2016-01-19 11.00.38

Here is a bottom view.

2016-01-19 11.01.13

Inside the back cover is an angled pocket and a pen holder.

IMG_5561

Here is the February Cocoa Daisy Dori kit – there are “Pretty Planner Things Inside.”

IMG_5562

The Cocoa Daisy Dori has a Kraft embossed cover that says “Start Here.”

The pages include:
• A monthly calendar
• 3 lined journaling pages
• 11 blank pages
• 10 graph pages with 7 sections
• 10 unlined pages with 3 sections
• The last page has a design

IMG_5563

Included are 3 ribbon Planner clips from Perfect Papery – one pink, one yellow and one red and white with a heart button.

February Cocoa Daisy Day Planner Plan With Me

2016-01-19 11.10.26

Hi Guys! Come on in and see what I’m doing today!

I broke out the February Cocoa Daisy Day Planner Kit and put my February pages together.

Here is the adorable ‘Simon in a dapper suit’ notepad, the month-on-one-page, and the month checklist.

My goal for this month’s kit is to try to use as much of the kit pieces as possible – there were LOTS of hearts – you’ll see.

2016-01-19 11.11.12

Here is the month-on-two-pages. I used the page reinforcers on these two pages because I flip to them frequently.

The pen is a pink Pilot Frixion erasable pen. I use erasable pens because sometimes I have to change an appointment (and I might make a mistake once in a while . . . or maybe more than once in a while . . . maybe).

2016-01-19 11.12.49

Here’s the goal page and the first week-on-one-page. I use the paperclips to help divide the sections up – decorative AND functional.

2016-01-19 11.16.05

Here is my Week 1 on two pages. I made wide tabs out of the wide heart washi and added the Heidi Swapp numbers to them – I can easily find the week I want. I entered the appointments and information I know ahead of time.

Simon loves nerdy girls . . .

I added some hearts . . .

2016-01-19 11.16.43

Here is Week 2. I ran the thin heart washi along the top of both pages and along the bottom of one.

The gold heart-shaped paperclip is AWESOME! It’s really strong and holds the pages perfectly.

I added some hearts . . .

2016-01-19 11.18.25

Here is Week 3. I clipped the red glittered bow to the top – super cute!

I also added some hearts . . .

2016-01-19 11.20.00

This is Week 4. Not a lot going on this week. I used the other gold heart-shaped clip on this page.

And . . . I added some hearts . . .

2016-01-19 11.20.36
Finally, here is Week 5. There are only two days in February this week, so I used the wide washi and covered the open spaces.

Oh look . . . more hearts . . . lol

February 2016 Cocoa Daisy Personal Day Planner Kit

IMG_5549

Hi Guys! Come on in and see what I’m doing today!

Yay!!! My February 2016 Cocoa Daisy Personal Day Planner Kit is here!!!! Here’s the lovely polkadot tissue paper wrapped around my pretty stuff!

IMG_5550

Oh look . . . It’s Simon Angel!!!! A – DOR – ABLE!

IMG_5551

Inside the tissue paper are:

Planner inserts, of course – they are pictured below.

2 cellophane bags that you can/cannot see through – saving those for later . . .

A 3×5 notepad, with Simon all dressed up, that says “Will you be mine? Or not . . . Whatever.” Love it!!

Heidi Swapp Pink Puffy Number Stickers – there are also hearts and arrows on it – in various shades of pink and red.

Crate Paper Hello Love Heart glitter stickers – mine are pink and VERY glittery – they are AWESOME!!

IMG_5552

Inside the larger cellophane bag is:

A Heart Paper clip – I love how they are making paper clips in so many shapes now!
2 ribbon paper clips by Paperie – one is pink and white striped and the other is red satin – I usually use these as bookmarks.
A Resin Heart Planner Charm – with 2 hearts on it – perfect for February.

A Simon die cut – I am sooooo going to laminate Simon and put him on a paperclip – he is too cute not to be able to use him over and over!!

IMG_5553

Inside the smaller cellophane bag are die cuts by Jaimee of Just Jaimee. These can be placed throughout your planning pages or used as bookmarks – if you laminate them, you can use them over and over again

IMG_5566

Here’s a closeup of the Kaisercraft paper tape – it’s wide tape with a red background and pink hearts – nice to have different size widths of washi – I think I’m going to layer this with another tape.

IMG_5554
1 5×7 Exclusive planner sticker sheet – this set is included every month in the month’s theme. I have not found a use for the tabs yet – they’re exclusive to the months’ kit – the dashboard already has a tab . . .

The February kit is VERY Februaryish . . . Pink, White, Red . . . I like that they added yellow to balance the pinks.

IMG_5565

Here is the monthly calendar and the week-on-one-page – there’s Simon peeking up from the bottom of the page – he’s so cute!
IMG_5558

Here’s the NEW month-on-two-pages insert – it used to be a free file and you had to print and cut it yourself. Now it’s printed and hole-punched for you – YAY!!

IMG_5559

This is what’s on the back of the NEW month-on-two-pages insert. A monthly checklist on one page and a year of boxes, one for each month – I am using this page for tracking my progress on my goals.

Big Picture for the month – keeping the big picture in front of you can help you stay on track.

IMG_5557

“by doing what you love, you inspire and awaken the hearts of others.” – Satsuma Shibuya

Here is the week-on-two pages and the daily to-do page. There’s Simon advocating for us “nerdy girls.”

Lovin’ the sundae in the middle of the water glasses, lol.
IMG_5564

I also got the Valentine Planner Add On Kit.

IMG_5565

Each kit includes:
Pink Ombre Mini Clipboard – this is the reason I ordered the kit – I mean, really, who wouldn’t want to use a mini pink clipboard????

American Crafts Valentine’s Pink Heart Washi Tape – this is a super skinny washi with lots of hearts that can be used going either direction and the hearts won’t look like they’re going the wrong way

Pretty Little Studio Gold Hearts Stickers – there are TONS of hearts on this sheet

3 American Crafts Jumbo Heart Paper Clips – these are gold so you can use them all year long and would look good with any color

Heidi Swapp Black and Gold Notepads – these are attached to a piece of acetate so you can punch the sides and insert into a planner

Crate Paper Hello Love Ephemera Pack – these are pretty good sized and I may use them in another planner with larger pages

Handmade DIY Planner Folder – this is really cool – it has eyeglasses on it – there’s a video on Youtube by where she shows how to cut it down to fit a personal-sized planner (which mine is) – worth a watch

Hautepink Fluff pink with gold tassel – this is very fluffy – “with gold tassel” is not exactly what I would call it, though – it has gold yarn wrapping the top of the tassel – nice touch, though!

American Crafts Red Glitter Bow Clip – this comes FLAT – I fluffed it out but it keeps going flat again?!?!? It’s very glittery, though.

So, there’s my Cocoa Daisy Day Planner February kit – I love having coordinated decorating pieces – it makes decorating my planner super easy!

Cricut Variety Pen Set

IMG_5424

Hi Guys! Come on in and see what I’m doing today!

I got this set of Cricut’s Variety Pens and I tried each of them out to show you how they compare to each other. When I’m making a card, I want the font to look professional and yet I want it to go with the card’s style – so having a variety of pens to choose from is important to me.

IMG_5425

This set comes with two .03 Tips, one Medium Tip, and two Medium Calligraphy Tips.
cricut.03

Above is the .03 Tip using the Cricut font.

Above is the .03 Tip using Anna Griffin’s Soiree Lettering – Grace Script font.

In my opinion, the .03 tip and the medium tip work great!

The .03 tip makes a really thin, crisp line – good for writing text.

The Medium tip has a slightly thicker line and is great for drawing images.

The Calligraphy tip produces a much wider line but doesn’t really look like calligraphy to me . . . Cricut needs to work on the calligraphy pen. I’m wondering if it would work better if it was at an angle – maybe make the pen holder position adjustable??? A Calligraphy setting???

Paper Organization

thumb_IMG_5499_1024

Hi Guys! Come on in and see what I’m doing today!

Paper Organization!

It is TIME. To Do SOMETHING. With my paper!!

I use Close To My Heart cardstock because it cuts perfectly in my AWESOME Cricut Explore. It comes in packs of 25 sheets wrapped in thin cellophane and is not meant to be permanent storage. My current storage (a milk crate) makes it difficult to see the colors and getting it out and putting it away is a pain – ugh!! I end up just piling it on top of the crate – Not Ideal . . .

thumb_IMG_5501_1024

So . . . I got some CTMH Paper Envelopes . . .

thumb_IMG_5503_1024

They come in packs of 3 and hold the 12” x 12” packs of 25 sheets of cardstock perfectly.

thumb_IMG_5505_1024

Jennifer McGuire has a really useful video of how she organizes her paper – I kind of modeled my storage process after what she did.

I used my Brother labelmaker and printed labels for the pockets – an amazing thing I learned from Jennifer was how to chain print labels without wasting the label material – okay, yes, how to chain print is in the instructions – but who reads instructions???? I’m a visual learner, so watching her step-by-step process made it so easy for me to understand!

thumb_IMG_5513_1024

Here are the pockets I have done so far – I need about 12 more – but you get the idea. No more bent, loose paper – YAY!!!!

thumb_IMG_5518_1024

This is a shot showing the labels on the pockets. I’m wondering if I should put labels on both sides of the envelopes – I’ll see if I need to . . .

The only thing I’ve noticed so far is that the snap on the CTMH envelopes makes them thicker – I had to split the envelopes up between two cubes. Also, my bulk quantity of White Daisy and Colonial White don’t fit in the envelopes – I’m going to have to split them into two envelopes . . .

Coloring Book Fairy Birthday Card

Screen Shot 2016-01-03 at 8.17.45 PM copy

Hi Guys! Come on in and see what I’m doing today!

I am making a Coloring Book Fairy Birthday Card for my soon-to-be daughter-in-law. Above is a screenshot of the project in Cricut Design Space.

My daughter-in-law is a verrrrry talented illustrator, and a beautiful person inside and out – soooooo, against my better judgment (because I am not artistic – creative, yes, artistic, no), I did kind of an artsy card.

IMG_5431

I went to Google images and found a coloring book image of a fairy – I don’t know, it just seemed to fit???? Adult coloring books are really trendy right now and this was so fun to color – relaxing – AND it came out incredible, imo.

I used my Close To My Heart Shin Han markers because . . . well . . . they’re awesome!! They are alcohol-based dual-tip markers and blendable!!

IMG_5440 (1)

Yes, it was a coloring project – not perfect, but using the Shin Han markers made it so easy and it looks really nice even when a non-artistic like me uses them!!!

IMG_5440

I used CTMH White Daisy cardstock for the fairy top layer and CTMH Crystal Blue cardstock for the base and the envelope. I used my AWESOME CRICUT EXPLORE to design the card with text. I also used my We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board to make a perfectly sized envelope.
